Post 7: A person/expert on your field that you admire.

The scientist that I admire is Linus Pauling (I already talked about him in the oral exposition). Pauling was born in Oregon on 28th February, 1901 and he died on 19th August, 1994 He was a scientist and some of the paper that he published are in the fields of the nature of the chemical bond and the resonance phenomenon.  He received the Nobel prize in chemistry for his great work and contribution to the science on 1954. Also Pauling was a peace activist, with Albert Einstein he was part of the Committee of Atomic Scientists. He called for an end to stop nuclear testing and the end of the war itself, and for his peace activism he received the Peace Nobel prize in 1963. Basically I like him because I think that he is an example that the people can do many things to help the humanity, not only in one field. He represents the scientist and humanist part and I like that harmony.

Post 6: Videogames

Well, to be honest actually I don’t like videogames because I’m not a fan of the computer or the electronic devices. But when I was younger I have to admit that I used to play a lot Circus Charlie and Pokémon. I know Circus Charlie because when I lived with my dad and my sister we played that game in my grandmother’s house sometimes.  I know Pokémon because my cousin is a gamer and he shows me that world but I never fascinate with that kind of things. I’m not a constant person so I never end a game; I just play till I get bored. I don’t have games in my cellphone for the same reason and because I get distracted a lot with everything so I just try to avoid that; also I think that I’m too busy right now that I don’t have time to play and I prefer riding a bicycle to breathe and clear my mind.

My favorite picture.....

Well, this is my favorite picture because I'm on it with some of my best friends (we call our group “Los de aveces” or “Los trolis”). We went to Mc Donalds in metro station Trinidad and we ate a lot of junk food. This picture was taken on 2014. I like this picture because it was so improvised, we look like apes haha, I see it and I remember how much I love them (and I remember that we are the most idiotic people of the world). I would do anything for them because they are something very important to me. They are my support; I don’t know what I would do without friends. I like watching this picture (and all the pictures) because I think that is important remember, the memory is fragile and we always have to consider who is by our side.

                        

Here's my female friends of "los trolis". I love this picture because that was our first picture all together. This picture was taken the last day of class of 3th year secondary (2014). We were so excited to go out and enjoy our vacations together.

Music

I prefer listening to music because I don’t have talent to play it. But I hope in the future I will have the opportunity to learn to play the accordion. I don’t have a favorite band because I think that all the bands or singers have something good so I can’t decide for just one. But I have different favorite’s music styles like rock, indie, folk, reggae, chilean cumbia. I don’t define myself with one style of music.

Well, now I listen to music only sometimes. Mainly because I can’t study in the week with music because I can’t focus… so I wait till the weekend to relax and enjoy the music because I think that is the easy way to escape from the world and the chaos. But if I had more time I would listen to music every second of my life. I really like dancing with the music, transport to another place just listen rhythms is something magic.

Why did I choose this career?

Well, when I was a child I always looked at the experiments like something interesting and also I liked to see  people and how they acted.

First I was not very sure if I really want to study this year because I was constantly thinking to take the year to make a good decision. I was interested in a career that had chemistry and almost nothing of biology (because I don’t really like it) and some career like philosophy or anthropology to make think deeply. So my soul and heart were divided into two parts.

After all the confusion in my mind I decided to study chemistry because I like the challenges and I think that in the future I can study some humanist career to complete myself and learn about the essence of the things.

Until now the experience makes me very happy because I learn a lot of things that I never learned in the school and I study the little composition of the things, that makes me know that we can learn beyond of what we see. Also I feel that the environment is very nice.

In the future I would like to work discovering a lot of things.

First post!!!!

Hello, my name is Javiera Alexandra Contreras Muñoz. I have two beautiful parents that I always have in my heart despite of I don’t see very often because I’m live with my grandfather now.  I have two brothers on my father’s side and two sisters on my mother’s. I always fight with my sisters but I love them more than anything.
I love laughing so I practice the circus art and I think that maybe I could do that in the future to fill my heart. Also I love knowing people so my friends are a very important part of me.
I studied all the primary school at the Estela Segura school in Puente Alto and then I changed to Liahona Cordillera highschool in La Florida. Currently I’m studying chemistry at Universidad de Chile, that makes me very happy because is one of my dreams,to discover new things and be a contribution to science. And I hope in the future carry on learning a lot of things.
